How it Works!

Sentence to Success is a pre-sentence diversion program designed for individuals facing misdemeanor or low-level felony charges.

Our approach focuses on early intervention, accountability, and real-life stability—before sentencing ever happens.

Instead of waiting for court outcomes, we work alongside individuals to create meaningful change that can positively impact their case and their future.

Six steps. One decision. A completely different life on the other side.

Step 1: Referral

Participants can be referred by:

  • Attorneys

  • The District Attorney’s Office

  • Probation or Pretrial Services

  • Community partners

  • Self or family referral

Once a referral is received, we begin the intake process.

Step 2: Intake & Assessment

We meet with the participant to:

  • Understand their current situation

  • Identify barriers (substance use, housing, employment, etc.)

  • Assess readiness and willingness for change

This is where we meet people where they are—without judgment, but with clear expectations.

Step 3: Individualized Plan

Each participant receives a structured plan that may include:

  • Accountability-based coaching

  • Recovery and support services

  • Employment and life skills development

  • Court navigation and communication support

Plans are typically designed for a 90–120 day engagement period, depending on individual needs and court timelines.

Step 4: Active Engagement & Accountability

Participants are expected to:

  • Attend scheduled meetings and sessions

  • Follow through on agreed goals

  • Maintain communication and consistency

We provide:

  • Ongoing support

  • Progress tracking

  • Real-time adjustments when challenges arise

This is not a passive program—it requires effort, honesty, and commitment.

Step 5: Progress Reporting

When appropriate, we provide updates to:

  • Attorneys

  • Courts

  • Referring partners

These updates reflect:

  • Participation

  • Progress

  • Accountability

  • Overall engagement

Our goal is to ensure that effort and change are clearly documented and recognized.

Step 6: Completion & Outcome

Upon successful completion, outcomes may include:

  • Dismissal of charges

  • Reduction of charges (e.g., felony to misdemeanor)

  • Alternative resolutions based on progress

All outcomes are determined in collaboration with legal partners.
